Instagram has make an announcement regarding the addition of its new gift card, food order and fundraiser tools for Stories and profiles which provide alternative way for those businesses affected by COVID-19 in order to generate more income during the ongoing crisis.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, most of the retailers forced to close their physical stores, thus they need alternative options to generate revenue. For restaurants, delivery and take-out orders are now the key focus, while retailers are obviously losing out significantly without their regular foot traffic. Besides that, eCommerce tools does help but those sell services do not have the same capacity in this respect. Considering this, providing easier ways to promote gift cards is a good option, giving loyal customers more ways to support the businesses they love amid the crisis.

On the other hands, fundraisers are slightly different proposition. According to Instagram, fundraisers will be attached to personal fundraisers on Facebook in order to allow business owners create their personal fundraisers to call on their customers for support.

In future, businesses will also have the feature to connect these personal fundraisers to a dedicated ‘Support’ Instagram Stories sticker as well a business profile button, adding more ways to raise awareness of fundraising campaigns.
