BD Media is the news and analysis desk of BigDomain Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian technology company based in Penang. We report on artificial intelligence, digital business infrastructure, and the online platforms that Malaysian companies now build on.
We publish for an audience of business owners, marketers, and technical teams who have to make decisions about tools they did not grow up with. That usually means explaining a new model release, a pricing change, or a platform policy in terms of what it costs a Malaysian SME, not just what it does.
What we cover
- Artificial intelligence and agentic tools: new model releases, published pricing, benchmark results, and the practical setup for teams in Malaysia.
- Domains, hosting, cloud infrastructure, and website security.
- Search, content, and social commerce, including Xiaohongshu (RED) and the Malaysian brands running campaigns on it.
- Platform and policy news from Google, Meta, Tencent, Alibaba, ByteDance, and the wider ecosystem.
- Government grants, SME programmes, and regulation that change what Malaysian businesses can do online.
Who we are
BD Media is edited by Dr Henry Tye and the BigDomain editorial team. Dr Tye is the founder of BigDomain and works hands-on in web infrastructure, search, and digital marketing in Malaysia. The editorial desk operates from Penang.
Our writers and contributors are practitioners first. Most of what we publish comes from work we are doing for clients or on our own infrastructure, which is why we can describe what a change actually breaks instead of restating a press release.
You can see the full masthead on our team page.
How we work
Every article is written or commissioned by a named member of the editorial team and reviewed before publication. We verify prices, dates, version numbers, benchmark scores, and quotations against primary sources, which in practice means the vendor’s own announcement, documentation, or pricing page, or a directly observable screenshot of the product.
Where we cannot verify a claim, we either leave it out or say plainly that it is unverified. We would rather publish a shorter article than a confident wrong one.
We use AI tools to help with research, drafting, and translation. Every published piece is reviewed, corrected, and approved by a human editor. Our full standards are set out in our editorial policy.
Ownership and funding
Editorial independence
BigDomain sells hosting, domains, and marketing services. We sometimes cover products and platforms that compete with our own services. When we do, we say so in the article. A commercial relationship never determines whether a story is published, how it is framed, or how it is ranked.
Our staff are not permitted to accept payment, gifts, or travel from a company in exchange for coverage.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes and we fix them in public. If you believe an article contains an error, email us with the URL and the specific claim. Our process is described in our corrections policy.
