Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure readership. It sets cookies and records an anonymised view of how you reached the site and what you read. We use this only in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking analytics cookies does not stop you reading the site. You can also install Google’s official opt-out browser add-on if you want to be excluded from Google Analytics across all sites.

Our content delivery and bot protection runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address as part of serving the page and filtering malicious traffic.

Who else sees your data

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the publication, and only as far as needed:

  • Google — analytics (Google Analytics 4).
  • Cloudflare — content delivery, caching, and security.
  • Our hosting provider — server infrastructure and backups.
  • Our email and newsletter service — delivering messages you asked for.

Some of these providers process data outside Malaysia, including in Singapore, the United States, and the European Union. Where that happens, we rely on the providers’ contractual data protection commitments.

How long we keep it

  • Contact form messages: up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record so we do not email you again.
  • Analytics data: per Google Analytics retention settings, currently 14 months.
  • Server and security logs: up to 12 months.

Your rights

Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 you may ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data of yours we hold and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is inaccurate or out of date;
  • stop using your data for a particular purpose, including marketing;
  • stop holding your data, subject to any legal or contractual reason we must keep it.

Requests go to the address below. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting. We aim to respond within 21 days.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS. Access to the data we hold is limited to staff who need it, and administrative access requires individual accounts. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that a breach will never happen, but we will notify affected users and the relevant authority where the law requires it.

Children

This publication is aimed at a business audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date at the bottom.
