WorkBuddy Malaysia: Free Resource Hub to Learn the AI Agent

WorkBuddy Malaysia: Free Resource Hub to Learn the AI Agent

WorkBuddy Malaysia now has a local answer to the question every new user asks in the first ten minutes: which edition am I supposed to install, and what do the credits actually mean. A new site, workbuddymalaysia.com, went live on 10 October 2026 as a Malaysian resource hub for Tencent’s AI agent. It is free to read, thirty-one pages deep, and written for the Malaysian edition rather than translated from the mainland one.

“Tencent’s AI agent, set up for Malaysian businesses. It works inside your own files and hands back finished deliverables, not advice. Start free; no credit card.”WorkBuddy Malaysia, homepage, read 11 October 2026

That distinction matters more than it sounds. WorkBuddy has been usable in Malaysia for a while and the free tier genuinely costs nothing. What has been missing is a walkthrough that starts from where a Malaysian reader actually is: the international edition, Ringgit invoicing, an Android phone with no Google Play listing. Most guides assume a mainland-China account and stop being useful at exactly that point.

Last updated: 11 October 2026. workbuddymalaysia.com was published on 10 October 2026. Free-tier mechanics, the referral bonus and the Pro trial are stated as the publisher describes them, and were checked against Tencent’s own international site and third-party reviews where those exist. Quotations from Chinese-language sources are translated.

What WorkBuddy Malaysia users actually get on the site

The site is a resources layer, not a download mirror. It carries eleven sections, and four of them answer something a reader cannot reasonably guess:

  • A credits explainer. Where the monthly allowance comes from, how the daily active reward works, and why the new-user bonus has to be entered at sign-up. An existing account cannot claim it later, which is the single most common way people lose it.
  • A setup walkthrough. An eight-step sequence in order: sign up, enter the invitation code, install the desktop app, check the balance, authorise one working folder, choose a working mode, then run a real task. It also explains that WorkBuddy runs in cloud mode, where the agent works on Tencent’s servers, or computer-connected mode, where the app drives the desktop itself.
  • A prompt library. Eighteen ready-to-use prompts, each naming an outcome, a source and a format, for report writing, document summaries, research, spreadsheet clean-up, reply drafting and code.
  • A plain-English glossary. Agent, LLM, credits, MCP, RAG, tokens and PDPA defined without jargon, so the product’s own vocabulary stops being the barrier.

Around those sit role-specific use cases for sales, finance, marketing, HR, e-commerce and SMEs, a video library that lists each demo and tutorial with its running time, side-by-side comparisons against ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, and a section covering how the product handles Malaysian data and PDPA questions.

The three things that trip up Malaysian users

Read the site’s FAQ closely and a pattern appears. The difficulty with WorkBuddy in Malaysia is not the product, it is the edges. Three of them are worth knowing before you start.

One: there are two editions, and they do not share an account. Malaysia runs on the international build at workbuddy.ai. The mainland build at workbuddy.cn is a separate product with a separate account and a separate credit balance. Chinese-language trackers are unusually blunt about this, noting that credits are in-product points and cannot be exported as an API key. Pick one edition and stay in it.

Two: the free tier works here; the paid plumbing does not, yet. This is the caveat the site states rather than buries. Subscriptions and skill installations are currently available only in mainland China. The free allowance, the daily reward and the referral bonus all apply on the international edition. The free plan is genuinely usable in Malaysia today, and an upgrade is not.

Three: Android has no Google Play listing. There is a desktop app for macOS and Windows, a browser version that needs no install, and a free iOS app in the Malaysian App Store. Android is distributed through Tencent’s own download site and Chinese app stores. If you search a store and find nothing, that is why. The site also warns off third-party repacks, which matters because an unrelated browser extension of the same name muddies the search results.

WhatAs publishedWho it applies to
Free plan100 credits a month, no credit card, plus a daily active reward and 3 automated tasksEveryone on the international edition

ProA paid tier that raises the allowance to 1,000 base plus 1,000 bonus creditsCurrently mainland China only

Read the table as a snapshot of one page rather than a price list. Paid tiers and the trial are set by Tencent, the site says so, and both can move without notice.

Why a local layer for WorkBuddy Malaysia matters

Agentic AI arrived in Malaysia faster than the supporting material did. Tencent Cloud opened its first Malaysian cloud region in Johor with up to three availability zones, and paired it with a Universiti Teknologi Malaysia programme to train more than 1,000 AI and cloud professionals. Independent reviews describe WorkBuddy as Tencent’s agentic workspace from the CodeBuddy team, built for ordinary office work rather than coding, returning a finished report, deck or spreadsheet instead of an answer.

That is a different promise from a chat window, and it changes what a beginner needs to read. Nobody needs another explainer on what a large language model is. They need to know which folder the agent may touch, what a credit buys, and why a heavy task costs more than a summary. The new site is shaped around those questions, which is also why its glossary sits beside its prompt library rather than in a separate help centre.

The comparisons deserve their own mention, because they are the section most likely to be wrong elsewhere on the web. Placing an agent alongside ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini only means something if the difference is stated as a scope difference, an agent that edits your files versus a model that answers a question, rather than a scoreboard. The site takes the first approach.

What the site says it is, and what it is not

One line in its footer is worth quoting, because it is the disclosure most vendor-adjacent sites omit: the site states that WorkBuddy is a product of Tencent, and that WorkBuddy Malaysia is an independent information resource operated by Big Domain and is not the official workbuddy.ai website. The publishing entity is Big Domain Sdn Bhd.

Big Domain also describes itself as an official Tencent Cloud agentic-cloud partner in Malaysia, a role covering onboarding, Ringgit invoicing and local support rather than reselling a licence and disappearing. The hub is the public half of that arrangement. If you want to know whether WorkBuddy suits your own work, start with WorkBuddy Malaysia’s getting-started guide, then give it one real task instead of a test question. If you would rather have someone walk you through it, talk to the WorkBuddy Malaysia team.
